Corrie van Binsbergen (CVB)

CVB has a very broad musical background which can be heard in her music. She developed her own characteristic style in playing as well as composing. It’s a synthesis of jazz, rock, composed and improvised music.
In 1999 CVB received the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize (the most prestigious award in Dutch jazz- and improvised music) for her creativity, craftsmanship and versatility. In 2012 she was nominated for theAmsterdam Art Prize in the category proven quality.
CVB founded the Stichting Brokken in 1996 realising productions where she brings together different musical styles or artforms for a far broader public than only jazz reaches. With Corrie en de Grote Brokken she incorporated pop/rock vocalists in a skewed mélange of jazz, rock, blues, funk, and more. And with Writers in Concert she brings together music and literature in a unique way. With her quartets CVB4 and CRAM she played on various venues and festivals in Europe, Morocco, The Baltics, Brasil, India and China.
Corrie received numerous commissions for a.o. Dutch radio and TV, Filmmuseum, Holland Festival, Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Mondriaan String Quartet, Zapp String Quartet, Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet, Radio Symphony Orchestra, Asko|Schönberg Ensemble & Barbara Hannigan.
